Ever since I was young, I have been fascinated by the natural world. After studying Ecology at the Royal Holloway University of London, I worked as a Field Ecologist (invasive plant species) but quickly moved into practical conservation where I worked with thousands of volunteers over the space of a decade.

I was first introduced to the world of green woodworking and heritage crafts back in 2010 by Lee Southall, a talented craftsman and willow weaver. Lee’s passion and energy for the craft caught my attention and it wasn't long before I was hooked. My practical skills as a conservationist were put into good use and I found myself making spoons and experimenting with different designs.

 

Over the following years I became obsessed with green woodworking (and collecting old tools) and discovered the rich history of the craft. I began making my own tools as I felt the commercial options weren’t quite suited to my style and needs.

 

The tools I design and create come from my own experience as a green woodworker and are all used by me daily on different carving projects.

I’m in love with the process, not just the end product. I am making these tools because I want other people to enjoy using them too.

For me, this isn’t just a hobby; it’s my way to relax. Creative activities are good for your physical and mental well-being, and an hour or two spent crafting woodwork can provide the perfect escape from the stresses and strains of everyday life. When I am not making, I work part-time supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities. This is my other passion and something I feel very strongly about.

 

I truly believe that anyone can be creative and I want my tools to inspire you to discover heritage crafts in the way I did.
